Ball State University Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections is now home to an online oral history resource. In 2008, Professors Michael Doyle and David Ulbrich trained Ball State students in oral history techniques and military history. These students then interviewed 40 veterans of the First Infantry Division. These resulting videotaped interviews are transcribed and web streamed on the Digital Media Repository at

A 16-minute video titled “Conversations Across Generations” is also available on this web page. This project received generous support from the McCormick Foundation and the Cantigny First Division Foundation. These oral histories are excellent sources for scholarly research and student projects.
