PLEASE NOTE: The CFP/ abstract submission for the "Medieval Travel" book project has been extended to Minday, May 4, 2009. Please consider submitting a proposal: send an abstract of no more than 500 words along with a recent cv to June-Ann Greeley at greeleyj@sacredheart.edu An array of themes related to medieval 'travel' are being considered, from all disciplines and methodologies.
Some general fields of examination include:
~Gender and medieval travel
~Religious travel in Middle Ages
~Pilgrimage as distinct from religious travel in the Middle Ages
~Geographies of identity
~Muslim and Jewish travelers in Christian medieval Europe ~Medieval monasticism, codes of hospitality and travel
~Medieval literature of journeys/ travel
~Marco Polo and travels East
