On April 25, 2009, "Minds and Matters" brings together fourteen scholars at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA, to address critical connections between the mythology and geography of the American West and the quintessential technological artifacts of American “western” civilization. This all-day public symposium on the historical relationship between technology and place will offer a select audience new ways of thinking about technology as an analytical category.
Contact the symposium organizer Volker Janssen (vjanssen@fullerton.edu) for a detailed program.

Sponsore by Huntington-USC-Institute on California and the West - Additional Funding provided by the History Channel.
