Princeton University Graduate School Office of Academic Affairs & Diversity in partnership with the Graduate Women of Color Caucus present:
The Changing Role and Influence of Women of Color in Society
Princeton University, Friend Center, Convocation Room
Saturday, May 9, 2009
The Princeton University Graduate School's Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity in conjunction with the Graduate Women of Color Caucus is proud to host the symposium, focusing on empowering and supporting women of color currently enrolled in PhD programs. The one-day symposium will provide a number of scholarly forums to address important challenges and opportunities impacting the lives of women of color in academia. The aim is to create an environment in which it is safe to discuss, share, and explore strategies for navigating the academic terrain.
We invite interested graduate students to submit papers for the symposium; in addition to general scholarly submissions, we also encourage proposals connected to the theme "The Changing Role and Influence of Women of Color in Society." We request that those interested in presenting their work submit a brief proposal of no more than 300 words and a brief bio to the conference conveners: Leah M. Wright (lmwright@princeton.edu) and Megan Francis (meganf@princeton.edu). Please include your name, institution, email address, and proposal title in a word document or pdf attachment along with any audio-visual needs by Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Presentations should take approximately 15 minutes.
