The topic of the roundtable is: "The private led outside: breaking down the barriers, the interaction of the Arts in Public Spaces."
The session will focus on the following questions:
1.) In what ways might Arts in public spaces change the fundamental
organizing trope of the contemporary literary and visual arts?
2.) In what ways does it counter and/or continue the trope of private
separate spheres of interaction?
3.) What literary texts, productions, installations and practices offer radically redefined perspectives on "public vs. private"?
4.) What aesthetic traditions, theoretical movements, or arts practices might emerging theories of Public Art (visual, music, literary, and dance)illuminate?
5.) What new opportunities for research are created by interdisciplinary approaches to Public Art and to inter-arts dialogue?
MLA roundtables usually consist of 4-5 speakers (10 min speech) and a
general discussion afterwards
