In the last decades, economical and social changes have deeply affected behaviors and relations within the Hungarian society, studies on the effects of regime change on economics and politics now being classics. This exceptional convention of the Hungarian Sociological Association hosted by the French Insitute of Budapest would like to observe the impact of the transition on generations and the relationships between age groups. Socialization agents (school, families, work places...) and their norms have been affected by the transition and relayed to actors new expectations and eventual opportunities to negotiate and to modify their life histories.
Three approaches are suggested.
1. The conceptualization of ages and social roles of generations in Hungary
2. The ages as targets and actors of discourses and politics.
3. The relations between generations
Abstracts of 1000 signs in English, Hungarian or French language should be submitted by sending them by e-mail to generationshongroises@gmail.com before the 10th of April. The convention will take place the 28th of May 2009 in Budapest.
