Given the scope and complexity of the foreclosure crisis, further research is needed to provide insights to public officials and policymakers in their efforts to manage the rate of foreclosures and property vacancy and abandonment, as well as to formulate current and future redevelopment and reinvestment policies and programs. This conference seeks to examine current and emerging strategies used to prevent and manage vacant property and variations in the effectiveness of these strategies by housing market, geographic location, and other factors.
