The conference, "Remembering Rwanda15: Lessons Learned / Not Learned", will be held in Toronto at the University of Toronto on March 20-22 to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide, which claimed the lives of some 1,000,000 people in just 100 days beginning in April, 1994.
Hundreds of scholars, students, teachers, and members of the Rwandan community in Canada, as well other members of the public, are expected to attend the conference, which will feature, among others, the following individuals, who are some of the world's most renowned scholars of genocide:
Dr. Gerald Caplan (Author: "Rwanda: The Preventable Genocide")
Honourable Irwin Cotler (Former Minister of Justice of Canada)
Jerry Fowler (President, Save Darfur Coalition)
Professor Robert Melson (Former President, International Association of Genocide Scholars)
Linda Melvern (Author: "A People Betrayed" / "Conspiracy to Murder")
Professor James Orbinski (Former President, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders)
Professor William Schabas (Director, Irish Centre for Human Rights)
Professor Gregory Stanton (Founder & President, Genocide Watch)
Professor Ervin Staub (Author: "Origins of Genocide and Other Group Violence" / "The Psychology of Good and Evil")
Professor Samuel Totten (Member: U.S. State Department's Darfur Atrocities Documentation Team)
