The Northeast Popular/American Culture Association (NEPCA) is seeking paper proposals on the topic of Ethnic and Race Studies for its 2009 fall conference. The conference will be held on Friday October 23 and Saturday October 24, 2009 on the campus of Queensborough Community College (Bayside, Queens, New York City).
The deadline for proposals is June 1, 2009. Please e-mail a 1-2 page paper proposal and a one-page vita to Sally Hirsh-Dickinson, Area Chair of Ethnic and Race Studies at: shirshdickinson@rivier.edu. A copy should also be sent to the 2009 Program Chair, Professor Mark Van Ells at: mvanells@qcc.cuny.edu. NEPCA welcomes both single-paper proposals and complete three-person panels.
NEPCA presentations are generally 20 minutes in length and may be delivered either formally or informally. NEPCA conferences involve a blend of senior scholars, independent researchers, graduate students, and professors at various stages of their careers. NEPCA also encourages scholars to test work-in-progress and prides itself on offering a supportive environment in which intellectual rigor and risk-taking can coexist.
More information about submitting a proposal, the conference, and the organization is available at its NEPCA’s website: http://users.wpi.edu/~jphanlan/2009_NEPCA_CALL_FOR_PAPERS%5b1%5d.htm
