Essays on Premodern Kerala, India

An edited volume of essays in honour of a leading historian from Kerala is proposed to be published soon. Papers are invited on all aspects pertaining to the precolonial history of Kerala. The papers must strictly adhere to a materialist understanding of history. Preference will be given to areas like Medieval Agriculture and Commercialization, Portuguese and Dutch Presence, State Formation in the Post-Perumal Era, and Literary Practices in Kerala. The length of papers can be anything of the order of 8000-15000 words. Authors may follow any system/style for notes and bibliography, but it should contain all bibliographic details including the name of the publisher, date of the original publication in case the source used is a reprint, and also the name of editors and translators wherever applicable. Stylesheets will be standardized during the editing process. Please send an abstract in 200-500 words to both discoverie@gmail.com and abhilashmalayil@gmail.com by 15th April 2009.
