To coincide with the 15th commemoration of the Rwandan Genocide, the Program in Holocaust and Human Rights Studies at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law will host a one-day international conference on March 30, 2009 entitled: Healing the Wounds: Speech, Identity, and Reconciliation in Rwanda.
The conference brings together distinguished individuals from the academy, governmental organizations, and global civil society. The broad theme of this conference will examine the interplay of law, society, and identity in Rwanda and the role each plays in reconciliation. Ultimately, the Conference seeks to explore with relevant stakeholders the current Rwandan legal, political and social climate as it relates to reconciliation in order to appreciate how best to engage with Rwanda in its quest for lasting peace. The Conference outcomes will be published and distributed. A conference description and list of participants is available at:
