I am doing research on two specific wooden "German Fasching Celebration" masks for Central WA University's New Museum Exhibit. We are missing some information and want as complete cultural background information as possible for these masks before being displayed. Anything on the topic is requested EXCEPT information on the Festival itself. Specifically I am looking for information relating to: History of Wooden German Fasching masks, location of origin of these masks, time frame these masks were made. Also: Who do these masks depict? Have pictures- request if needed. Description of materials: Wood, paint, nails, fur. Looks very old, paint very worn-off. One looks like a happy Budda-ish character, another an angry white man with beard. Already looked at several internet sources: could only find info on the festival itself.
