Flight 33 Productions is the company behind the History Channel special LIFE AFTER PEOPLE (the highest rated show in the network's history), as well as the producers of the History Channel series THE UNIVERSE now in season three, and the recent series SEVEN DEADLY SINS.
We are now in production on a new three-part DISCOVERY CHANNEL series examining the history of Human Sacrifice from around the globe. Each episode will explore historic and archaeological evidence, from the prehistoric era until the practice died out - or did it? We'll see what the ancients said about human sacrifice, and we'll ask overarching questions about the existence and reason for the practice. Why did a culture turn to human sacrifice (was it due to natural disasters or was it political)? What were the constants in each religion, and what were the differences? And finally, are the ancient sacrifices around the world long gone, or are we experiencing a re-birth of ritual killings?
Neuroscientists, sociologists and religious scholars alike will explain the importance of this kind of ancient ritual, as well as its later evolution. With "Myth Buster" type laboratory experiments, specific instance of actual human sacrifice - backed up with archaeological and forensic evidence - will be investigated.
We are in search of experts like yourself that could guide us through the topic with a camera interview and/or lab experiment demo. Including human sacrifice in mythology and classics, regions we'd like to explore are Europe, Egypt, India, Africa, Oceania/Polynesia, the Asias, and the Americas.
If you are interested, please get back to me at your earliest convenience so that we may discuss the show and shooting logistics in more detail. Also if you have any referrals, I'd be more than glad to follow up with them.
Thank you for the time and consideration. I look forward to hearing back from you.
