The Mediterranean Edition invites the submission of articles for the Spring 2009 issue. We are particularly interested in 1) articles that explore the structural, social, cultural, institutional, or political economic barriers to media democratization. Example topics include:

* Peace Journalism
* Peace Communication
* Women and Media
* Political economy of communication and peace
* Film and Peace
* Media and Nationalisms
* Documentary and Peace
* Peace Pedagogies for Communication and Media Studies
* Media, Citizenship and Democracy
* Communication and Cultures in Conflict
* Theories of Communication, Theories of Peace
* Media, Globalization and Peace Communication
* Communication, Diaspora and Border Crossing
* War-riting for Peace
* Peace Radio
* Communication and Peace Studies
* Media and Conflict Resolution
The Editor also seeks articles for the graduate student sections of the upcoming issue from doctoral students engaged in questions concerning the relationship between media and the promotion of democracy/peace. Of special interest will be articles that breach the apparent boundaries between disciplinary areas and suggest new approaches to historical problems of representation, ownership and control, access, intellectual and press freedoms, communication rights, and the fundamental role of communication in democratic society.
Deadlines
Articles should be submitted by March 25, 2009.
