Sailing the Western Sea: the Atlantic Ocean in a Medieval Perspective
|
Penn State holds a its 21st Medieval Conference on March 28, 2009 on "Sailing the Western Sea: the Atlantic Ocean in a Medieval Perspective". The Atlantic World has been an important focus in the historical profession for a decade or more, but to the neglect of its early beginning. In this one-day conference, five noted speakers will consider the medieval Atlantic from Scandinavia to Iberia, and from the 11th to the 16th century. We hope to foster discussion and further collaborative research projects with this gathering. We especially welcome graduate students interested in the topic. For more information and registration (there is no cost to attend this conference), see .
