For the pilot New Orleans scholars group, we are looking for individuals willing to share their primary source material on New Orleans. We are especially interested in material gathered from smaller archives in the New Orleans region that may now have limited access or even have been destroyed because of Hurricane Katrina. This material may be in the form of computer notes; digital images; photocopies. The goal of the group is to preserve valuable source materials; provide access to them; and to build a community of scholarly collaboration. As part of a pilot Zotero-Internet Archive group, participants will contribute to the formation of policies and protocols regarding scholarly collaboration more broadly, such as issues related to releasing research data in advance of publication.

A Zotero-Internet Archive will allows users to upload scanned documents and images for preservation within the Internet Archive. Scholars will be able to have a permanent URL per each document for referencing, to search upon an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) version of the file when applicable, as well as to link documents to subjects and keywords, which will enable deeper research and potential collaboration with other researchers.
