TPS: BASICS is designed for educational leaders interested in exploring how primary source materials, particularly those of the Library of Congress online collections, can be effectively incorporated into educational settings, while supporting the development of critical and historical thinking and analytical skills.
TPS: BASICS consist of four modules individually paced within a time frame of four weeks. Participants are expected to complete one module and login to a live 3 hour chat session facilitated weekly by the ERTPS staff. TPS: BASICS models the use of inquiry-based learning and teaching, teaching for understanding, and differentiated instruction as they apply the investigation of history using primary source documents. Activities from the modules could be applied, with appropriate modification for the purposes of local professional development, higher education coursework, and K-12 classroom settings.
