The Society for the Study of Popular Culture and the Middle Ages is organizing a session or series of sessions devoted to the theme of “Can the Middle Ages Have a Future? Re-Creations of the Medieval in Works of Science Fiction” for the 2009 Medieval and Renaissance Forum to be held a Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH, from 24-25 April. We are especially interested in papers that interrogate sci fi medievalisms and Umberto Eco’s famous formulation of ten post-medieval Middle Ages in “Dreaming the Middle Ages” and “The New Middle Ages” published in Travels in Hyperreality. Please email us ASAP if you’d be interested in presenting. The Society needs to submit all materials to the conference organizers by 15 January 2009.
More details about the conference can be found at http://www.plymouth.edu/medieval/
