The ‘Anthem Popular American History’ series publishes both popular histories and reprints of classic manifestos, tracts, and biographies. Titles in the list reach a wide audience, and bring to life the narratives and voices that shaped the development of the American nation. Subjects addressed include the civil rights movement, slavery, economic history, the West, urbanization, popular cultures of the past, immigration, and the development of religions and cults. Reprints in the series are introduced, annotated and edited by experts in the field. Forthcoming and recent publications in the series include ‘What I Saw In America’ by G.K. Chesterton, with an introduction by Simon Newman; ‘America Through the Spectacles of an Oriental Diplomat’ by Wu Tingfang, with an introduction by Jonathan Spence; and ‘Excursions’ by David Thoreau.
We welcome submissions of proposals for challenging and original works that meet the criteria of this series. We also welcome the opportunity of pursuing co-publishing ventures with institutions in the field. Should you wish to send in a proposal for a collection of essays, a single or multi-authored monograph, please contact us at: proposal@wpcpress.com.
