The Theatre Museum of Repertoire Americana invites submissions for papers, performances, or panel discussions that explore the sites and sounds of rural American entertainment forms. We particularly encourage submissions relating to tent shows, circle stock, showboats, Lyceum, and Chautauqua, but also welcome submissions about such topics as minstrelsy, circus, vaudeville, repertoire, Uncle Tom’s Cabin Shows, minstrelsy, and freak shows. The conference is open to anyone interested in theatre history, performance, popular culture, or any other aspect of rural entertainment. It features theatre historians, popular culturalists, former troupers, intriguing research, lively discussion, and performances.
A $100 scholarship will be awarded to the best paper presented by a college student or a graduate student.
