International Academic Journal for the Humanities Thamyris/Intersecting invites proposals for edited volumes to be published in its series.
Thamyris / Intersecting is published by Rodopi-Press in the Netherlands. The mission of Thamyris/Intersecting is to rigorously bring into encounter the crucial insights of black and ethnic studies, gender studies, and queer studies, and facilitate dialogue and confrontations between them. The sharpness and urgency of these issues is our point of departure, and our title reflects our decision to work on the cutting edge. Previous and forthcoming issues in the Thamyris / Intersecting series deal with topics as diverse as Heterosexuality, Activism, Rhythm, Dutchness, Alterity and Sound.
The editors envision the confrontations and dialogues between urgent issues as moving beyond a mere demonstration of the complexity of our times, or an analysis of the shaping factors of that complexity. We seek cultural criticism that is daring, invigorating and self-reflexive; that shares our commitment to thinking together. We aim for a practical understanding of the complex intertwining of race, sexuality and place, that is, in concrete forms of political agency. Contributions that combine an activist-oriented perspective with intellectual rigor and theoretical insights, interdisciplinary and transnational perspectives, are therefore especially welcomed.
Contributors to recent issues include Andreas Huyssen, Carol Bardenstein, Peter Hitchcock, Mieke Bal, Rey Chow, Ariel Dorfman, Brian McHale, Griselda Pollock, Marianne Hirsch & Leo Spitzer.
More information on the series can be found on the Rodopi website (http://www.rodopi.nl) or on http://www.thamyris-intersecting.blogspot.com/
Please send your submission outlining the theme and content of your proposed volume, along with your curriculum vitae, to intersecting@let.leidenuniv.nl. We are looking for volumes of at least 100.000 words. All acceptances are conditional on the approval of the series editor.
