Film Theory
Southwest-Texas PCA/ACA Conference
Albuquerque, NM
February 25-28, 2009
The SW-TX PCA/ACA annual conference invites you to present a paper in the area of film theory. Film Theory is a new area at this year’s conference, and we are looking forward to a wide range of papers that theorize a specific film or group of films, discuss the evolving relationship of theory and film studies, or investigate new theories of film. Some possible topics you might consider:
1. Formal Theory (mise-en-scene, sound, montage, etc.)
2. Authorship Theory
3. Genre Theory
4. Ideology and Film
5. Critical/Cultural Theory and Film
6. Filmmaking as Theory
7. New Theories of Film
And these are just a few of the ways to approach questions of film and theory. Please feel free to consider others as we hope to create intriguing and diverse panels at this year’s conference.
Please email your proposal (250 words) by December 15, 2008.
