perspectivia.net, an international platform for humanities studies, went online on 31st October. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gudrun Gersmann, Director of the German Historical Institute in Paris, perspectivia.net is a project of the Foundation of German Humanities Institutes Abroad (DGIA) in cooperation with the Bavarian State Library, Munich (BSB) and funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The intention behind perspectivia.net is to facilitate a rapid international exchange of research findings on an open-access principle, something that in the past has found too little practice in humanities studies. perspectivia.net will publish new texts and book reviews originally online; publications by the institutes abroad so far only available in print will also be retro-digitalised and presented in electronic form with a relevant full-text search capability.
Gradually renowned partner institutions, such as the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG), will also make publications via perspectivia.net. Long-term archiving is assured by the support of the Bavarian
State Library Munich with its many years of experience in electronic publishing. In Spring during the conception of perspectivia.net the BSB established a new Centre for Electronic Publishing (ZEP).
