Call for Papers: Conspiracy Theories and Claims for the Paranormal
2009 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association
30th Annual Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico
February 25-28, 2009
The 2007 SW/TX PCA/ACA Conference will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Join us this year, as a returning or first-time participant at this regional popular culture conference. Further details regarding the conference (listing of all areas, hotel, registration, tours, etc.) can be found at http://swtxpca.org/.
Proposals are now being accepted for a new area: Conspiracy Theories and Claims for the Paranormal. Listed below are some suggestions for scholarly presentations, but topics not included here are also welcome.
- Reality TV depictions of psychics, ghost-hunters, UFOlogists, or other presentations of paranormal phenomena
- Claims for paranormal landscapes: lay lines, crop circles, Burmuda Triangle, Atlantis, haunted places
- Conspiracy theories in film and television
- Conspiracy theories on the internet
- 9/11 conspracy theory movements
- JFK assasination conspiracy theories in popular culture
