The Historian of the Twentieth Century United States are hosting their relaxed and wide-ranging Second Annual conference this year in the comfortable and historic surroundings of Madingley Hall at the University of Cambridge on 26-28 June 2009. Our keynote speaker will be Professor Lisa McGirr of Harvard University, who will be speaking on "Prohibition and the Making of Modern America."
We are especially eager to receive papers from younger scholars and those from Europe from the United States in addition to those from the base we have in the United Kingdom. We also want to encourage papers on a variety of topics across the range of the American experiernce in twentieth century. If you have a proposal, please send a resume and 300 word precis to Dr. George Conyne at the University of Kent (G.R.Conyne@kent.ac.uk) before 5 January 2009.
Anyone interested in attending without also giving a paper are welcome and should contact the HOTCUS website on the University of Keele's Bruce Centre webnsite for further details (http://www.keele.ac.uk/depts/as/Dbruce/hotcus.html).
