CFP: Woolf, Women and War:Contemporary Discussions on Gender and Virginia Woolf’s War Writing
This edited collection will examine gender and the contemporary impact of Woolf’s creative nonfiction on the subject of war and/or peace. Topics should address the following question: How does Virginia Woolf’s creative nonfiction, in particular her writing about war as a gendered entity, inform contemporary (21st century) practice and/or ideologies?
Topics might include (but are not limited to):
· Woolf, war, and feminist/revisionist history
· Mothering and war
· Mourning, public/private grief and war
· Monuments and memorials
· Antiwar Activities
· Attitudes toward war
· War work
· War and trauma
· Patriotism
· Representations/narratives of war
A book contract with Mellon Press has been signed, and deadline for paper proposals is December 1st. If your proposal is selected, article length is 15—20 pages (not including citations.) Book will go to press in late Spring of 09.
