The Florida Historical Society requests submissions for its 2009 Annual Meeting to be held May 20-23 in Pensacola, Fla. The theme is “From Tristán de Luna to the Twenty First Century: 450 Years of Florida’s History.” Proposals in all areas of Florida history are welcome, with papers on the history of Pensacola being especially relevant.
Proposals for individual papers should include a title, a 150-word abstract and a one-page vita. Proposals for panels should include a paper title, 150-word abstract, and one-page vita for each panel member plus a session title, a 150-word abstract of the panel and a suggested moderator/discussant. Send by email as an MSWord attachment to jgcusick@ufl.edu or as a paper copy to James Cusick, Special Collections, George A. Smathers Library, University of Florida, Gainesville FL 32611-7005. The deadline for proposal submissions is January 31, 2009.
The hotel venue for the annual meeting is currently being negotiated. Please watch the Society website at www.myfloridahistory.org for information on hotel and room rate information.
