The conference is organized by the Croatian Conservation Institute, Zagreb, Croatia with the support of Ministry of Culture of Republic of Croatia.
THE CONFERENCE
At the conference held last year in May, Croatian textile conservators had a chance to present to experts, historical textile owners, students and professors the critical situation of storing the textile, especially in the church collections and some museums. Two important procedures are cleaning and displaying historical textiles; if performed badly they can cause further damages. Croatian experts would like to share experiences and news on materials and methods used in textile conservation with foreign experts. Therefore four main subjects of the Conference are:
- preventive conservation of historical textiles,
- cleaning historical textiles,
- displaying historical textiles,
- new materials and methods.
Among others, experts from Abegg-Stiftung foundation, Riggisberg, Switzerland and The British Museum, London, Great Britain are invited as lecturers. Lectures and workshops of the conference are organized for conservators, experts from Ministry of Culture, curators, members of religious communities, students and professors from related faculties.
