The fourth annual meeting of the Georgia Philological Association (GPA) will convene at Brewton-Parker College, Mount Vernon, Georgia, on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4, 2009. We invite proposals for session topics, panel discussion topics, and scholarly papers on any subjects relating to American, British, French, Hispanic, Russian, German, or Slavic literature or language, as well as linguistics, speech/oral communication, drama, fine arts, film, rhetoric, composition, philosophy, history, translation, the general humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and pedagogy. Special sessions already planned include Georgia History, Edgar Allan Poe, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and Eudora Welty. Reading times for individual paper presentations will be strictly limited to 15 minutes (approximately eight double-spaced typed pages). Although convention presentations are limited to 15 minutes, presenters may submit longer or more complete versions for publication in the Journal of the Georgia Philological Association. Specific session times, content areas, and sites will be determined as soon as we have received and evaluated all submissions. All presenters must be members of the Georgia Philological Association (membership fees are payable at the annual meeting in February). Please submit 100-word abstracts in English for session topics, panel discussion topics, and scholarly papers by Friday, February 27, 2009 to Harry Bayne, Brewton-Parker College #2025, P.O. Box 197, Mount Vernon, GA 30445-0197; or by electronic mail to hbayne@bpc.edu. Pre-registrants will receive GPA programs in advance by electronic mail.
