The Forest History Society is excited to announce the launch of "Peeling Back the Bark," a new blog maintained by the FHS staff. "Peeling Back the Bark" will discuss new acquisitions, online exhibits, and photo galleries, as well as highlights from the rich resources held in the Society’s Archives and Photo Collection. Other posts will explore forest history in the contemporary world, bringing context to news of the day--some serious, some lighthearted. To date, posts include discussions about exploding baseball bats, illegal logging, materials in the Rudy Wendelin collection, Smokey Bear and Madison Avenue, photo exhibits on logging and lumberjack pin-ups, and the adventures of Junior Raindrop.
