The conference aims at postgraduates from different disciplines working on the interplay between politics and gender in early modern Europe. While both, gender and politics, have often been the subject of conferences and discussions, the relationship between them and the inclusion of gender in the study of political culture and thought have rarely been the focus. Possible topics for conference include, for example, a discussion of the relationship between gender and power, the representation of gender in political treatises, or the nature of gendered rule.
We seek papers of 25 minutes in length, and work in progress is particularly welcome. Please contact genderandpolitics2009@hotmail.co.uk with abstracts of 200-300 words and your contact details, or with any questions you may have. The deadline for abstracts is 31 January.
Conference Date: Friday, March 13, 2009.
