Florida Conference of Historians
The Florida Conference of Historians invites proposals for its 49th annual meeting February 27 & 28, 2009 hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. The Program Committee welcomes proposals for individual papers, complete panels and roundtable discussions on any topic of historical interest. In addition to historical topics, panels can include papers pertaining to historical resource management and historical pedagogy. In keeping with the FCH mission of expanding local access to historical knowledge, proposals are welcome from undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members and independent scholars and historians. Selected papers and summaries of round table discussions will be published in the "Annual Proceedings of the Florida Conference of Historians," a refereed journal published by Florida International University. Dr. Michael Sugrue, Professor of History at Ave Maria University, and one of the “Superstar Teachers” featured in Princeton University’s video-lecture series, will be our keynote speaker. Conference registration includes a dinner cruise along the Caloosahatchee River. For ALL proposals whether individual papers or panel proposals please submit: (1) Name; (2) Institution; (3) Email address; (4) please indicate if you are willing to serve as a panel chair. For individual papers please add: (1) Title of Individual Paper Proposal; and (2) a 100-word Abstract of the Individual Paper Proposal; (3) a brief, 100 words or less CV. For Panel Proposals please add: (1) Title of Proposed Panel; (2) name, email address and brief 100-word CV of the chair; (3) name, email address and brief 100-word CV of the discussant, if one will be included; (4) name, email address and brief 100-word CV of each presenter; (5) title of the individual papers; and (6) a 100-word Abstract of the Panel Proposal.
