International Conference on Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies II: Civil Conflict and Its Remedies, 23-24 February 2009, Banda Aceh, Indonesia
Following a successful 'First International Conference of Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies in Banda Aceh' in February 2007, the participants endorsed the establishment of an International Centre for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies in Aceh (ICAIOS). ICAIOS will join with the Asian Research Institute of the National University of Singapore and an Aceh-based institution to host a second conference in February 2009. All research papers on Aceh and its connections and comparisons with Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean regions more broadly will be considered for inclusion. However, the particular theme on this occasion will be civil conflict and its remedies. Those wishing to present papers, in either English or Bahasa Indonesia at the conference are invited to submit a Paper Proposal which includes a title, a 250-word abstract, and a short paragraph of personal self-description by 31 October 2008.
