Proposals for individual papers or panels in all areas of history are welcome for the 52nd annual Missouri Valley History Conference. The conference will be held March 5-7, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Downtown/Old Market Omaha.

Proposals, consisting of abstract(s) and one-page vitae, should be sent to

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS IS OCTOBER 15, 2008

Those wishing to have their proposals acknowledged should include a stamped, self-addressed postcard or want an e-mail reply.

In your proposal please state if you would like to:
• chair and discuss a session
• have suggestions for chairs or commentators
• require electronic equipment for your session. It is encouraged that you bring your own laptop as we have limited supply

A prize of $200 will be awarded to the best graduate student paper presented at the conference.
The Society for Military History sponsors a full slate of sessions at the MVHC and also will again be sponsoring a “huddle” for SMH participants. Individual proposals and session proposals are welcome. For individuals, send a one page proposal and short c.v. (only c.v. if volunteering to chair/comment). For sessions, send one-page session proposal, one-page proposal for each paper and short c.v.’s for all participants. The SMH also sponsors the Kevin J. Carroll award for the best graduate student paper in Military History. Please include e-mail address. Deadline for proposals is October 1, 2008. Send proposals and c.v. to: Connie K.
