Slavery in the Atlantic World
New book series edited by Manuel Barcia, University of Leeds; Rafael de Bivar Marquese, University of São Paulo; and Dale Tomich, Binghamton University
Slavery in the Atlantic World focuses on material, social, economic, cultural, and political relations and processes that make and remake slavery as part of the historical formation of the Atlantic. We wish to promote understanding of transformations of slavery and of the Atlantic as a distinct, unified historical space through contributions from various disciplines that address these issues at diverse spatial and temporal scales – from long term to short term, from global to local. While the explicit focus of the series is on Atlantic slavery, we also welcome monographs and general works that treat themes that are related to Atlantic slavery, but may go beyond it.
