This seminar will be held during the American Comparative Literature association meeting in Cambridge, MA, in April 2009, and will welcome presentations about literary, cultural and political discourses involving zones such as the US – Mexico border, the Andes, interoceanic canals, the Strait of Gibraltar, the Korean Demilitarized Zone, postcolonial national divides in Africa, India – Pakistan border, Israeli checkpoints and other frontier areas of contemporary import.
