The Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association annual conference will be held April 8-11, 2009, at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, Louisiana. Scholars from numerous disciplines will meet to share their Popular Culture research and interests.
The World’s Fairs and Expositions area is soliciting papers dealing with any aspect of Popular Culture as it pertains to all areas of world’s fairs, international expositions, specialized exhibitions, garden shows, art exhibitions, celebrations, centennials, and any aspect of these themes. In the past this has included descriptions of individual achievements, the women’s buildings at various fairs and their significance to gender studies, overall discussions of fairs, and discussions of a particular country’s participation, e.g. United States, Canada. Controversy will not be shunned.
Papers from graduate students are welcomed and encouraged.
Questions and inquiries, as well as proposals of one paragraph (that describes the paper) or abstract, if panelist prefers, may be directed to the area chair, Martin J. Manning, at
