Exploring the Dodd Research Center and the Connecticut Historic Preservation Collection

The Thomas J. Dodd Research Center is part of the University of Connecticut’s library system, and is home to UConn’s Archives and Special Collections. Literature, artwork, ethnography, and research collections are housed in its climate-controlled archival space. Laura Katz Smith will give an introduction to the important work done by the staff of the Dodd to preserve cultural heritage, and will focus on the Connecticut Historic Preservation Collection (CHPC). The CHPC is a collection of Connecticut documentary, architectural, and archaeological survey reports of historic sites and structures conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding cultural resource protection. Actual site files will be available to see and discuss. This will be a unique behind-the-scenes look at the work of cultural resource protection. Adults and children ages 10 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
