Atlatl Day, Competition and Knap-in
Saturday, October 11, 10 am to 4 pm
Hammonasset State Park, Madison, Connecticut
No registration required – FREE
In it’s third year, the Museum, Friends of Hammonasset, and members of the Friends of State Archaeology are sponsoring this unique event. This year, we will be meeting at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Connecticut. You can experience the thrill of using the atlatl, an ancient spear-throwing tool that predates the bow and arrow! There will be ongoing sanctioned ISAC and local competitions as well as fun atlatl throwing contests. Bring your own atlatl and darts, or borrow ours, and join in! Master craftsmen will demonstrate the art of flint-knapping and other ancient technologies throughout the day. Adults and children 8 and above. Children must be closely supervised by an adult.
