The Southwest Journal of Cultures seeks short scholarly articles (3000 word max.) dealing with current issues/events in American popular culture. Our on-line journal is interested in fast, lean, scholarly analyses of what's happening now. We are particularly interested in pieces from scholars in the Southwest, though topics are not limited to the Southwest. Suggested tpoics: the Obamas _New Yorker_ cover; art/literature/phenomena of the midwest floods; new media (blogs, podcasts, social networking sites) trends; current television advertising, new reality TV; current trends in film, music, visual arts.
