Fatten your portfolio by becoming an active participant in a large, scholarly organization. The National Popular Culture & American Culture Association requests Subject Area Chair volunteers for the following areas:
1) Baby-Boomer Culture
2) Disability Studies
3) Disaster Studies
4) Jack London's Life & Works
If your research has delved into aspects of any of these topics, please consider becoming the Chair for that subject area.
The duties of the Area Chair consist primarily of sending out Calls for Papers, accepting paper/presentation proposals, and organizing the accepted papers/presentations into panels.
The conference is held each year just before the Easter holiday in a prominent U.S. city. This year's conference was held in San Francisco, California, and the 2009 National Conference takes place Wednesday, April 8 through Saturday, April 11 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I encourage academic scholars or serious enthusiasts to get in touch with me, Delores Rauscher. I'll be happy to answer questions and provide further information.
