It gives us much pleasure to inform you that the International Symposium on Trade and Production Through the Ages will take place in Konya, at Selcuk University, from 25-28 November 2008. The organizers would like the principal theme of the Symposium to be the
relationship between “Trade and Production Through the Ages” Especially welcome will be those lectures that deal with little-know or so far unpublished Archaeological findings about commerce and production. They ask participants wishing to give lectures to submit abstracts on any of the following topics (grouped under three headings):
I. Commerce Through The Ages
a. Trade and Art
b. Trade and Production Architecture
c. Trade and Production findings in Archeological Excavation
II. Auxiliary Sciences
III. Military Architecture
Fortresses and Fortress-Sites on the road of Trade.
The language of the Congress: The Organizing Committee requests those participants delivering lectures to do so where possible in English, German or in Turkish. Abstracts may be submitted in English, Turkish, German. All lectures given in a language other than English should be fully translated into English and a copy of the translation submitted to the Organizing Committee. Simultaneous interpretation will not be available at the Congress.
Invitations to lecture: In view of the great interest that is expected, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide on the lectures to be given. Invitations to lecture will be issued on the basis of the abstracts will be informed of the Organizing Commitee’s decision at the time the Second Circular is sent out, in any event by 08 August 2008.
Those wishing simply to attend the Symposium (i.e. not to deliver a lecture) should notify the Organizing Committee of their intention to do so by 31 July 2008.Timetable: Abstracts of not more than 1 page and 2000 characters (but not less than half a page and 1000 characters) should reach the Organizing Committee by 31 July 2008. They may be sent either on paper or electronically.
Registration Fee: This will be €50, Students €20, to be paid on arrival at the Congress. Details will be given in the Second Circular. Travel and accommodation costs: All travel costs and all accommodation costs must by paid by the participants. In the second Circular, the Congress’s Organizing Committee will advise participants of the various kinds of accommodation available. It will attempt to offer as wide a selection as possible, including, for those still at university, accommodation in student halls of residence. Correspondence and abstracts: The Organizing Committee will be pleased to answer any questions you may have in connection with the Symposium.
