Kein Ereignis fasziniert weltweit so viele Menschen wie die Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft. Der Weltfußballverband FIFA mit Sitz in Zürich hat 208 Nationalverbände. Die Vereinten Nationen haben 192 Mitglieder.
In der FIFA sind also mehr Nationen vertreten als in der UNO. Jeder auch noch so kleine Staat hat eine Fußball-Nationalmannschaft.
Warum ist das so? Warum hat sich kein anderer Sport flächendeckend von England aus über die ganze Welt verbreitet, und warum zieht keine andere Aktivität weltweit so viele Menschen in den Bann?
