The Children’s Television Area of the Popular Culture Association invites interested scholars to submit abstracts, papers or proposals on any aspect of children’s television for presentation at the 2009 National Conference of the Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association, to be held at the New Orleans Marriott. Possible themes include, but are not limited to: media ecological viewpoints, educational aspects, critical perspectives or historical examinations, or other theoretical or practical discussions regarding children and television.
Please send a 100- to 250-word abstract via email to rgraham7@unl.edu. Completed papers of not more than 15 minutes reading time may also be sent. Please include pertinent contact information (name, institutional mailing address, phone numbers, and email).
Panel proposals of 4 speakers and/or discussion panels of 4-6 participants each are also encouraged and should contain:

Name and contact information for the Panel Chair
Titles and abstracts of each paper
Contact information for each presenter
If you are involved in producing children’s television and are interested in speaking on or showing your work, please contact us! Graduate students are strongly encouraged as well.
Deadline for submissions is October 15, 2008. Membership in the Popular Culture Association (PCA) or the American Culture Association (ACA) is required for participation; details will be sent from the area chair with letters of acceptance. You may also visit their website at: http://pcaaca.org .
