The Historical Society of Nigeria, announces its 53rd Annual Congress. The Congress will hold on 13th to the 15th October 2008, at Gombe State University, Gombe, Nigeria. The theme of this year’s conference is:
“Historicising National Security, Order and Rule of Law in Nigeria”. Sub-themes are as listed as follows;
• Theoretical and Conceptual issues
• Historiography of National Security and Rule of Law
• Multidisciplinary Perspectives
• Gender Perspectives
• Global Dimensions and Local Implications
• Scenarios, Futures Perspectives and Historical Lessons
• Political Economy of Security and Rule of Law
Abstracts should be submitted on or before 30th June 2008. Completed papers are to be submitted by 30th September 2008.
Members of the Society and interested members of the public are invited to submit a one page (maximum) proposal synopsis to the Administrative Officer, Historical Society of Nigeria Secretariat email, teryimaalbert@yahoo.com, no later than 30 May 2008. Please include the title of your presentation, your full name, institutional affiliation, and full contact information (telephone number, email address, and mailing address). Female and group presentations are particularly encouraged to send proposals.
The best three papers will be awarded prizes. Funding for student presenters may be made available, upon request, to assist with travel costs.
