The symposium welcomes papers crossing the disciplines on a range of issues impacted by genetics including: philosophy and history of genetics; biodiversity and evolution; genomics and medicine; ethical, legal, and social implications of genetics; biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals; genetics, agriculture, and global sustainability. As science in the 21st century is an integrated part of society and substantially affects regional and global politics, economics, the environment, health, and human rights, we hope to engender meaningful discussion in the academic and greater community from perspectives across the natural and physical sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities.
A 300-500 word abstract must be submitted by July 1 as a Word document to mendelsymposium@villanova.edu.Papers will be peer-reviewed. Selected papers will be presented in concurrent sessions (twenty minutes per paper) and will be eligible to be published together with the papers of the invited speakers. Venue: Villanova University. Date: September 23rd, 2008.
