For its Fall 2008 issue, Proteus: A Journal of Ideas seeks essays and scholarly articles that examine sports, exercise, and/or recreation from a wide range of disciplines including (but not limited to) the sciences, sociology, literature, business, gender studies, psychology, political science, philosophy, cultural studies, and history. For example, an essay might examine the psychology or physiology of sport performance or the economic and social issues relating to exercise or recreation. Cultural, historical, and literary studies are welcome as are personal essays.
Our journal seeks broad theoretical inquiries into the nature of sports and recreation as well as case studies dealing with more specialized topics. The submission of photographs, poetry, personal essays, and other kinds of creative writing are also strongly encouraged.
Deadline for manuscripts is June 15, 2008.
Publication date is October 2008.
Documents should follow Chicago Manual of Style
with a preferred length of 2000 – 5000 words.
Send manuscript as a Microsoft Word® attachment to: firstname.lastname@example.org
