We are inviting abstract submissions for the interdisciplinary conference “Orienting Istanbul: Cultural Capital of Europe?” at the University of California Berkeley.

Taking as a point of departure the selection of Istanbul as one of Cultural Capitals of Europe in 2010, the goal of this conference is to reflect on how cities and culture have become key to imagining communities in a globalizing word.
