We seek papers, panels, and workshops for this interdisciplinary conference on race in the U.S. and global societies. The conference will take place at Monmouth University located in West Long Branch, New Jersey November 13, 14, 15, 2008. There continues to be a tremendous amount of controversy surrounding the concept of race in human society as illustrated with the 2003 documentary by California Newsreel "Race: The Power of An Illusion." The theme of this conference is "Race: Future of An Illusion, Future of the Past." Is race an illusion? What has been the state of race and race relations in the past? At the present?What will be the future of race and race relations? Will the future resemble the past? These and other petinent questions constitute the underlying themes of this conference.
