The Philippine Academic Consortium for Latin American Studies (PACLAS) will hold its first international conference on Philippine-Latin American Relations in December 15-17, 2008, Manila to be hosted by the City Government of Manila and the University of the Philippines. The venue is the University of the City of Manila, which is right inside the historic Intramuros (walled city).
The conference theme is as follows:
The Philippines and Latin America:
Past, Present and Future
While PACLAS as an academic consortium is generally geared to historical and cultural studies, we have broadened the theme to encourage wider participation to include other disciplines. We encourage however that papers take into account the historical and cultural contexts of questions and issues under consideration. We look forward to a multi-disciplinary engagement in this conference.
Proposals for individual papers and panels are now being accepted. Deadline for submission is on May 15, 2008.
If your paper is accepted, we take care of your accommodations in Manila.
